Changes in our fee structure and billing policies will be enacted on July 1, 2015. In a previous blog post, we notified everyone that the fees for golf course samples were increasing. Now in-state samples are $60 and out-of-state samples are $120. Our billing structure will change as well. We ask that on July 1, 2015 all fees be paid within 30 days of submission. After 30 days, the client will receive a phone call and a letter as a reminder. If payment is not received within 60 days, the client will be placed on a do not serve list until payment has been received. Please understand that the university graciously provides partial support for the Turfgrass Diagnostic Lab, but the other support is supposed to come from sample fees. We now accept credit cards and we will gladly accept pre-payment of services and track the account much like an escrow account. If you would like to pay an old bill by credit card, you can do so by clicking here. If you would like to start an escrow account, please contact Lee Butler at email@example.com.
Turfgrass managers, in particular golf course superintendents, can change jobs readily. Yet, samples submitted by a particular club are the club’s responsibility even if the previous superintendent has left. The other oddity is NC works on a fiscal calendar of July 1-June 30, so in early summer it is especially important to pay the fees in a timely manor. We view this as an extremely important service to the industry and one we want to remain sustainable for many years to come. These are our ideas to improve efficiency with sample fee collection and we welcome suggestions to make our lab better with regard to billing.
