Dr. Matthew Jeffries has received a Musser International Turfgrass Foundation Award of Excellence for 2017. These annual awards are presented to outstanding doctoral students of turfgrass science who have made significant and innovative contributions to turfgrass science research. This year’s recipients were each presented with a $35,000 cash award.

Matt recently completed his Ph.D. focusing on pesticide environmental fate in turfgrass systems with advisors Dr. Travis Gannon and Dr. Fred Yelverton. He has accepted a position as a pesticide environmental fate field scientist at BASF Corporation in Research Park Triangle Park.

“Being selected for the Musser Award of Excellence is the highlight of my career to date,” says Matt. “On both personal and professional levels, I will cherish this honor for the rest of my life.” Congratulations to you, Dr. Jeffries!
